About GoodMusicNY

We've been listening to and playing music in New York City for years and have always found it near impossible to dig through all the live events in this great city to find the ones that tickle our ears. This site was created to highlight the music we like to listen to and hopefully help you find refuge from the throngs of wanna-be-on-MTV bands who usually dominate the other listing sites out there.

Bill Carney's Jug Addicts

Saturday, August 6th
8:00 pm
Barbes
376 9th St. (at 6th Ave.)
Brooklyn

Jug Bands seem to be sprouting from trees these days. Every time I look around a corner I seem to see someone thumping away on a washtub bass or humming a ditty through a kazoo. However, the Brooklyn based Jug Addicts have been around for years and have developed a loyal, if at times fanatic, following. They are a band who are as interested in having fun on stage as they are at putting on a great show.

Michael Daves' Bluegrass Mob July Gigs

Michael DavesThe Michael Daves Bluegrass Mob plays roof-raising string band music, as much in touch with the psychotic, trance-like Applachian mountain fiddling roots as with the notion that the early Bluegrass heroes - Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, and others -- embodied the visceral, iconoclastic essence of rock n' roll before its time. Led by Daves on guitar, mandolin, and tenor vocals, the group features a rotating cast of New York's top traditional musicians.

The Bluegrass Mob has the following gigs upcoming in July:
