From the full tilt roar of a square dance to high lonesome sound in songs of love and murder, the Wahoo String Band primarily plays songs and instrumentals from the American South. On occasion they range a bit farther afield with tunes from Scandinavia, Portugal, Mexico and French Canada.
A few things are certain if you make it out on a Thursday night to hear this great band.
- You will be treated to new and interesting takes on old traditional songs
- You will eat very well
- Despite the location in the East Village, you will not be surrounded by drunk hipsters and frat boys
- You just might be moved to learn the fiddle
