Thee biggest NYC bluegrass show in recent memory (depending on the condition of your memory) is coming on Wednesday at the Ace of Clubs featuring two of my favorite local bluegrass bands plus a very special out-of-town guest, Gordon Stone. Gordon is one of the top improvising banjoists in the country and had performed with the likes of Peter Rowan, Vassar Clements, Tex Logan, and is featured on a couple Phish albums. We performed as a duo for several years when both based in Western MA, and since he's in Vermont and I'm in Brooklyn, we don't get to play so often anymore, so it's a rare pleasure to present what we do to you NYC peeps.

The Neices and the Nephews and the Cobble Hillbillies are both hugely entertaining bands, so this will be a quality evening all around.

  • 7pm: The Neices and the Nephews (Izzy Zaidman; Katy Cox; Sheriff Uncle Bob; Jack Ward; Andy Cotton)
  • 8pm: Michael Daves + Gordon Stone (plus special guests)
  • 9:30pm: The Cobble Hillbillies
